Your worth is in your identity in Christ!

“Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock.” Matthew 7:24-25

Years ago when a friendship I thought was for life ended, I was completely devastated and didn’t know what to do. I went into the darkest depression I had ever experienced. Immediately God began the work of helping me understand who I am in Him. I found everywhere in the Bible where it said, “in Him,” “in whom,” “through Him,” and “through Christ,” and I listened to those Scriptures on a recording in my sleep and all throughout the day for months. So fast forward years later, another friendship that I thought was a lifetime friendship ended, and although it hurt, my understanding of my identity in Christ helped give me a rock-solid foundation that caused me not to fall to pieces like the first time.

In life, I’ve learned how to bless people when they come and bless people when they go. There are relationships we hope will last until Jesus returns, but the reality is every relationship won’t last a lifetime. We accomplish our mission in each other’s lives, we fulfill the purpose, learning from that person what the relationship was designed to teach us, and then that chapter ends, and we move into a new beginning. It has taken me years to get that, but I got it, praise God! I have learned that my identity is not in my marriage, not in my children, not in a friendship or anything else. My worth and my identity is in Christ!

I hope you are listening to me, sister. If you allow your husband, your children, your ministry, your accomplishments, or material things to define you, you will be completely devastated if those things are no longer in your life. I need you to focus on who you are in Christ. Read and reread. Listen and listen again to God’s Word telling you who you are in HIm. With or without things or people, you are still a daughter of the King; you are still accepted into His family, you are still intensely loved by Him!

Prayer: When everything changes around me, Father God, help me know and understand that nothing has changed about who I am to you and who you are to me. When people leave, I am still called and chosen for your purpose and plan. I am still your daughter, and you are still the Lover of my soul and my anchor. You are the protector of my heart and it’s only mender. You have given me a hope and a bright future and I thank you for strengthening my identity in you. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

  1. Thank you for these beautiful seeds of encouragment….
Father, thank you for being the sold-rock in my life when things around me are shifting. Thank you for reminding me that all relationships are not meant to last a lifetime. Help me to know when the purpose is fulfilled, when the lesson is learned or taught, when the chapter ends, and to let go with grace….remembering who I am in You…

  2. Amen! Good morning Father God, my Sculptor! I love You for bringing me into fruition as to who. I am in You Father God! ThankbYou for living me enough to reveal that to me so that I may understand who I am in You! Father, I love You and I thank You for me! In Jesus Christ name I pray, Amen! πŸ™πŸΎπŸ™πŸΎπŸ™πŸΎ
