Deborah arose. So will we.

“In the days of Shamgar son of Anath, and in the days of Jael people avoided the main roads, and travelers stayed on winding pathways. There were few people left in the villages of Israel—until Deborah arose as a mother for Israel” Judges 5:6-7, New Living Translation.

Deborah was a judge, a prophetess, the wife of Lappidoth, a Psalmist, and a poet in the 12 century B.C., and with God’s help, she delivered the people of Israel out of the oppressive hand of a cruel enemy. Because of her, the people enjoyed 40 years of peace and rest. God has, and He will continue to use women in great and mighty ways!

I challenge you, my sister, to begin to not only pray for our world, but also ask God what can you do to help. The Spirit of the Lord is resting on you to fulfill a purpose. The Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and strength, the Spirit of knowledge and fear of the Lord rests on you. The Spirit of might. It is your time to arise and follow the example of Christ. You will be all you were created to be. You will do all you were created to do. Just as Deborah sought God and He guided her actions, so He will guide us. Deborah understood the times in which she lived, and she received wisdom and grace from her God. So will we (see Luke 2:52).

Prayer: Father, I am deeply humbled by your calling on my life. I accept it, and I choose to walk in it. Your enemy is my enemy, and your friend is my friend. What you hate, I hate, and what you love, I love. You have been looking all throughout the whole earth to show yourself strong on behalf of someone whose hearts are perfect towards you. I’m hidden in Christ, and He was perfect in every way. Father, use me as you did with Deborah. Help me fulfill your plan and be all you created me to be. Be greatly glorified in my life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

(Read Judges chapters 4 and 5; 2 Chronicles 16:9)
