Desperate for Love

“But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved” Ephesians 2:4-5, ESV.

All I wanted was forgiveness
All I wanted was love
How I longed for their acceptance
Their unconditional love
But when I fixed my eyes on the Lord
He forgave me
Yes, when I fixed my eyes on the Lord
He saved me
And all of my desire for love
Yes, all of my reaching around for love
Was met in the Lord

God gave me this song during a time when I needed love the most. My sister, I was desperate. God would tell me, “I love you!” But in my heart I would say, “I know, but I want their love.” He would say, “Kesha, I accept you.” But I would say, “God I know, but I want their acceptance.” He would tell me over and over again how much He’s forgiven me. And I would say, “God I know, but I need to know that they forgive me.” His love didn’t feel like it was enough for me, but I’m so thankful He reached down and saw the place I was in and helped me focus my eyes on Him.

Maybe you’re in a similar situation. You are desperate for love. You’re reaching all around you and just when you think you’ve found it, it leaves your grasp. The truth is, we can’t approach relationships out of a desperate need to be loved. No person on earth can handle that, and if they pretended they could, they may mean to abuse it. You must take your need to the Father. He is the only one who can give you the love and acceptance you need. God’s love is enough for you. I’m going to say that again, God’s love is enough for you! I know sometimes it doesn’t feel like it, but it’s true. All you need is Him, everything else is extra. Any relationship God blesses you with outside of your relationship with Him is the icing on the cake. It’s an added blessing to what you already have in God.

The most attractive feature of a woman is her completeness in the Lord. It’s the ultimate act of reverence to go to Him to meet your need.

Prayer: Lord, I thank you for speaking to me. Help me fix my eyes on you. Only you can give me the love I’m desperate for. Only you can fill this void. Forgive me for thinking your love wasn’t enough for me. It is. It is so what I need. I receive your love, your forgiveness, your acceptance and your grace. Thank you Lord for supplying my every need through Christ. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

(Read Ephesians 1:6; Proverbs 31:30)

    1. I’ve been blessed by your message today and it was a conformational message for me as well. I was in a relationship with this older man for close to 3 years. Because of his age, you would think he would be at a settled down stage of his life. It started out as if things were going accordingly, I thought I found true love but I found him cheating, lying, and drawing away. I still wanted his love even with all this. Now that I think of it, I’m ashamed. God made a way for me to get separate from living with him and get my own place. I love this freedom but now I’m working on freeing my mind from this man and focusing on the love God has for me. I must say, I am a relationship type woman and I pray God send that special one for me to me. For now I just thank him for his love each night and day….bless you.

    2. I made some terrible mistakes in my marriage and by the time I gave my heart to the Lord and he changed my entire life and saved me from myself, my husband had already had enough and moved out. I desperately needed his forgiveness and love to forgive myself. I continue to struggle with feeling like the Lords love and forgiveness is enough. It’s been months and while my husband rarely contacts me I know the Lord is working and that he wants marriage restoration. When I came to the Lord he put an unconditional love for my husband in me and it is so painful to not recieve that back from my husband but I also know that I hurt my husband deeply and he needs time to heal. I love him and will give him the time he needs but the Lord is telling me during this time alone to focus on the Lord and let him fix my mistakes. I’ve confessed humbled myself and apologize to him and his friends and family personally and I cannot do much more. I am trusting in the Lord to eventually mold me into feeling feeling the need for only the Lords love.

    6. I have not been reading the devotions for some time, but today I was pressured to read as many as I could. This has described me, and allow me to recognize that I am not alone. My heart hurts for that true love that never comes. I have reside in the truth that God will release me of that and he did and now I am truly happy. I am still single but I am happy in the Lord.

  1. Greetings my Sister in Christ, it feels wonderful to know you are not alone in life experiences. I have learned to embrace God’s love for me. His grace and mercy endures forever. He is my everything and I wait on Him to supply my every need. My heart belongs to Jesus. I have found true love and nothing or no one can separate me from my Lord. Thanks to all the writers of DOTK. God is ministered to His daughters through you all. Continued to let God use you. This devotion has help me realized I am not alone. Peace and Blessings always

  2. Amen!!!!!! This touched me in an extra special way. I am going through this exact same situation right now and I thank God for putting this message on your heart because it was meant for me. His love is all I need! Thank you!!!

  3. Kesha
I cannot tell you how this blessed me today, you are describing me, I have struggled with this for so long. Your post bless me so much, I don’t use Facebook or any social media, but I have this app on my phone, I struggle with feeling so unworthy. God bless you and I’m so thankful for your faithfulness.

  4. May God bless you sister. So many of your messages and prayers speak directly to my need and I know it’s your obedience to the Holy Spirit and I pray that our Father richly blesses you. Your words have brought me a great deal of comfort, thank you. All glory be to God.

  5. Thank you for being obedient to share what God has given you to share with us! I wish I could have heard this year’s ago, but God’s timing is perfect because if I had heard it then, I probably would have tossed these pearls before swine because I simply wasn’t in a place to really “hear” this message. I have been married for 9 yrs now and my husband is a man of God for sure. His heart is definitely after God but, his only iniquity is the worst one for me to deal with because of my childhood. Isn’t it funny how the lord, and the enemy works as well. . . Anyway, I have been yearning and desperate for true love to come from him. So that I could learn to love myself. He’s always told me, “How can you expect anyone else to love you if you don’t even love yourself?!” Basically meaning that no matter how much he shows me, it will never be enough because I don’t realize what I am REALLY looking for. God’s love for me! I’m too busy looking for it and it’s fulfillment from him and that’s too much to demand from my husband because he needs the same thing I do except that he already knows where his validation comes from, God! Thank you so much for this eye opening, “Ah ha!” message! May your day be blessed!

  6. The Bible has many names for that enemy: Satan, the great serpent, the deceiver, and the devil.

But the most telling name is found in Revelation 12:10: the accuser who accuses believers before God day and night.

Some say that the devil’s main role is tempting mankind to sin. But I believe what trumps even temptation is his role as the accuser who shackles us with shame and condemnation once we succumb to the temptation.

He paces before God saying, “She did this and she did that.” He plays and replays the video in the theater of your mind, pointing out all your faults and weaknesses to bring you down.

    He is AGAINST you.

But remember, there were two men creating a video of Steven’s game.

Just as the accuser is against you, there is someone else who is for you.

Before Jesus went to the cross, He assured His followers that He would not leave them as orphans. He promised to send the Spirit who would encourage, enlighten, empower, and intercede for all believers. And then Jesus gave the Spirit a name: the Advocate.

“But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you” (John 14:26).

An Advocate is someone who is for you and acts on your behalf. Yes! He is for you! And one of the ways that He is for you is to convict you of sin—of something that you have done that is contrary to the ways of God. God will never reveal a weakness, a sin, or a flaw in your life just for the sake of exposing it.

He always reveals a deficit because it’s time to make it right—to conform you to the image of His Son. The Holy Spirit awakens your senses to an area of your life that you need to change, and then helps you do it.

He shows you the video and says, “Right there. See that move. Let’s work on that area and improve your game.”

While the accuser points our your weakness and makes you feel you can never change, the advocate points out your weakness so that you can change. It’s the same video, but seen from a different perspective.

So tell me, who’s voice are you going to listen to? Who’s voice are you going to believe?

The voice you listen to will determine your destiny.

    1. Very well put. God loves us unconditionally Satan tries to accuse us constantly. Who do we believe and listen to? When our eyes ( mind) is focused on Jesus He gives us the love and peace we need. Everything we need is in Him. Thank you so much for sharing the Truth.

    2. Beautifully put. ….wish I’d understood this year’s ago when I was making some big decisions in my life. ..but God.

  7. Ohhhhh!! What an Awesome God we serve. I wrestle with the same situation. But I trust Gods guidance every step of the way. Staying Prayerful.

  8. Why God Gave Women Tears.

    Cry!!!!!!! Cry!!
Yes we must have desperate love for Jesus
In if men could only be a woman for a least a monthI believe the way they look at us
    SISTERS IN CHRIST
    Will change
Bonnie is saying keep your head up we are specifically special in Jesus eye sight hallelujah
    LOVE YOU! !!
A little boy asked his mother
    “Why are you crying?”

    “Because I’m a woman”,
    she told him.
    “I don’t understand”,
    he said.
    His mum just hugged him
    and said, “And you never
    will”

    Later the little boy asked
his father, “Why does mother seem to cry for
    no reason?”
“All women cry for no reason”,
was all his dad could say.
The little boy grew up and became a man,
    still wondering why women cry.
Finally he put in a call to God; and when God got on
the phone, he asked, “God, why do women cry so
    easily?”

    God said:
“When I made the woman she had to be special.

I made her shoulders strong enough to carry the weight of the
world; yet, gentle enough to give comfort
I gave her an inner strength to endure childbirth and
the rejection that many times comes from her children.
I gave her a hardness that allows her to keep going
when everyone else gives up, and take care of her
family through sickness and fatigue without
complaining. .I gave her the sensitivity to love her children under
any and all circumstances, even when her child has
hurt her very badly. I gave her strength to carry her man through his
faults and fashioned her from his rib to protect his
heart. I gave her wisdom to know that a good man never
hurts his woman, but sometimes tests her strengths and
her resolve to stand beside him unfalteringly.
And finally, I gave her a tear to shed
This is hers exclusively to use whenever it is
    needed.

    You see:
The beauty of a woman is not in the clothes she wears,
the figure that she carries, or the way she combs her
hair. The beauty of a woman must be seen in her eyes,
because that is the doorway to her heart – the place
    where love resides.
