“So you see, faith by itself isn’t enough. Unless it produces good deeds, it is dead and useless” James 2:17, NLT.
I remember when I had spent a good portion of the morning praying in the Spirit for my husband and thanking God for him. Then I heard the Lord say, “I receive your prayers, now show your love to him.” So I prepared a special lunch: broiled salmon, jasmine rice and a salad. I took a shower and put on something elegant. Lit a candle and put on soft music. Then I waited for him to come home during his lunch break. He walked through the door and sat down. I got off the computer and sat down next to him, asking him how his day was going and listened to him without interrupting. He was happy to eat a delicious meal and happy to see me. As he left to go back to work, he had a smile on his face.
After sixteen years of marriage, God still challenges me to not only pray for him and encourage him, but also show him that I love him by doing the things that matter to him, whether he does anything for me or not.
God has taught me that if faith without works is dead, a marriage without selfless acts of love is dead also. God receives your prayers myself sister, now show your love.
Prayer: Father God, thank you for this right now word. I receive it deep in my heart. I understand you want to bless my marriage in unimaginable ways, but you need my willingness and obedience. I understand you need me operating in the spirit and not in the flesh. I hear you Lord. I need your grace to be the wife you’ve called me to be. I need your wisdom and your strength and I receive it now by faith. In Jesus name, Amen.
Ty, I’m not married but this devo. Applies to other relationships also. My God is Love.
What a beautiful message. His loves endures forever. I shared it my all my kids, boys and girls as it applies to all of us. Thank you God for inspiring our sister everyday while she writes these messages to us
This is absolutely true in any reasonably healthy marriage. In the case of an abusive marriage, it takes a different type of love called tough love. With a covert narcissistic individual, doing what is described in the devotional feeds their disorder. I have tried it for decades. I reaped the abuse for it. They don’t view those actions done for them as love but as an entitled right. They don’t see life through the same lense as others. If you grow weary and back off those actions because of their abusive responses, they become rageful. They demand your behavior to be reinstated because to them it is your duty. Truly, doing what is described in the devotional becomes a dangerous spiral of exhausting control and abuse. Tough love must withdraw and remove the behaviors that feed the entitlement. There are a number of scriptures that speak of individuals such as these and warn not to associate with them.
I am still married to this person and am growing stronger but I didn’t grow until I learned about tough love.

I received this message from a true Woman of GOD days ago.l had been carrying unforgivnee for years against my husband who had multiple affairs during our marriage. I had decided to leave him this summer, he had no idea,he has long since repeated of his sins, but I just couldn’t shake this thought of his dishonesty and mistrust. For l this is true without a doubt, GOD always answered my prayers. I had to repent and Ask to Give me the SPIRIT to forgive my husband. I tell you something supernatural has and is happening in our once hopeless marriage. After all the years of praying and crying, it wasn’t him that needed GOD’S help. It was me who needed healing and a real spirit to forgive. There is peace unity and love us on one accord like never before IN JESUS NAME AMEN. Few the last few days l would be in my secret place, GOD said VICTORY. When l came out of prayer. My husband said GOD said VICTORY. TODAY I HEARD BREAKTHROUGHT IN PRAYER. WHEN I CAME OUT OF PRAYER MY HUSBAND SPOKE BREAKTHROUH FOR US IN JESUS NAME AMEN. UNLESS GOD SPOKE IT WITHOUT A DOUBT, DON’T GIVE UP ON YOUR MARRIAGE EVEN IF THEY WANT TO COME IN A BACKSLIDDING STATE YOUR HOUSE, IF YOUR TRULY LIVING A HOLY UNCOMPROMING LIFE, YOUR HOUSE IS A SAINTUARY COVERED UNDER THE BLOOD OF JESUS AND HIS ANGELS HE HAS GIVEN CHARGE OVER US TO KEEP US IN ALL THY WAYS.
