“But He gives more grace. Therefore He says: βGod resists the proud, But gives grace to the humbleβ James 4:6, NKJV.
Because we are made in the image of God and in His likeness, and God Himself resists the proud, which is to stand at a distance from, we also as His children stand at a distance from those operating this way. It’s in our design to resist anyone operating with a defensive mind, deflective attitude and an unrepentant heart.
However, because we are made in His image and likeness it is also in our design to give grace to the humble. We come close to those who recognize their wrong, are deeply sorry, and pursues to make it right. Our spirit knows when someone is operating in stubborn pride, and our spirit instantly knows when we’re witnessing great humility.
How do we heal strained relationships, and how do prevent the relational divide in the first place?
We find the answer in 2 Chronicles 7:14, “If My people who are called by My name will:
1. Humble themselves
2. Pray and seek My face
3. and turn from their wicked ways
Then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”
Your land is everything that concerns you, my sister, and God wants to heal it. Your relationships, your health, your finances, your life. Everything.
So, He provides a spiritual remedy, my sister, that can be applied to every area of life. It starts with humility, it starts with prayer, it starts with active listening to the other person, it starts with repentance which is turning away from wicked ways and doing things God’s way.
There are many relationships in the Body of Christ that are hurting right now but praise God they don’t have to stay that way. It’s going to take great humility, and with the help of God we can humble ourselves in our marriages, in our mother daughter relationships, and in our sister friendships.
Prayer: Father God, thank you for your word and wisdom. Search me God and see if there is anything in me that does not please you. I humble myself in your sight and in the sight of my family and friends, and I receive your grace. Thank you, Father, for your remedy. I receive it and apply it. Thank you for healing my land. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
