Let this mind be in you.

“Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 2:5

For years I allowed myself to have an undisciplined thought life and had no peace. I would be so preoccupied and consumed with all kinds of thoughts and had grown so accustomed to it that I thought it was normal. As I began to learn more about the Lord, He began to show me that His will for me is soundness of mind.

A sound mind is a calm mind. It is a peaceful and focused mind. It is a mind at rest. In writing to the believers in Philippi, the Apostle Paul wrote, “Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus.” The word “let” tells me I can either fight against the mind of Christ or yield to the mind of Christ. It’s completely up to me. If I want to experience a peaceful, focused mind that is at rest, I would have to yield.

My sister, the moment we yield to the mind of Christ that is within us, those thoughts can no longer roam freely, unchecked, robbing us of our peace. The Spirit of Christ helps us bring our thoughts and emotions into submission to our Father.

Prayer: Father, thank you for teaching me how to walk in peace of mind. I yield to the mind of Christ that I received from you. I cast down every empty and vain imagination and every high thing that is trying to exalt itself against the knowledge of you, and I bring into captivity every thought in the obedience of Christ. I receive your peace and soundness of mind. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”

  5. Thank you Father for yet another reminder of the life of peace You want us to live. To help us keep our thoughts in check and let the mind of Christ be in us, You have given us in Your Word a way to test our thoughts to make sure they are in line with You.
    Philippians 4:8 AMP
“Finally, believers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable and worthy of respect, whatever is right and confirmed by God’s word, whatever is pure and wholesome, whatever is lovely and brings peace, whatever is admirable and of good repute; if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think continually on these things [center your mind on them, and implant them in your heart].”
Thank you Lord, Hallelujah to Your matchless name!
