My sister, the Father wants to get your attention!

“Who redeems your life from destruction, Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies” Psalms 103:4, NKJV.

I had a dream a while ago that I had awakened to find a huge DOTK event had been planned. The place was full of women from all over who were excited to be in attendance. The only thing was I wasn’t appropriately dressed, and my hair wasn’t done. I thought, oh man! How did I miss this event? My mother went to the microphone and welcomed everyone. Then a praise team began to sing. Everything was on point except for me. I went up front and expressed, “I’m so sorry, I overslept. I took this pill that helps me sleep and…” They smiled. “I will go and change my clothes and be right back.” I ran and changed clothes, and when I returned, everyone was gone.

When I woke up and asked the Lord about the dream, He said, “You think those pills help you sleep at night, but they are doing more harm than you realize. If you continue to take them, they will destroy you and your life.” I jumped up and threw the pills in the toilet. I had been taking pills prescribed to relieve pain associated with a herniated disc. They had sat in my cabinet until we experienced a pest problem in our home that had me on edge and unable to rest. All I wanted was to get a good night’s sleep. I had read up on the pills and found they also relieved anxiety. Thinking they were harmless, I took two a night. When they kicked in, I would lie down and sleep through the night until morning. Felt wonderful. But after a month or so, I began noticing small changes. My speech was beginning to sound a bit slurred, and I felt unsteady. The dream God gave me came right on time, snapping me back to the reality God needed me to see.

When He says in Psalms 103 that He redeems our lives from destruction, the word “redeems” is plural for a reason. On our journey with the Lord, He will continually redeem our lives from destruction because often, we find ourselves in danger unknowingly. He will get His messages to us, making it clear as day. He will lift up an undeniable sign right in our face, “Hey, those pills are doing more harm than you realize! Stop! “Hey, that relationship is going to destroy your life! Stop!” “Hey, I know you think what you’re doing is innocent, but that’s going to destroy your marriage and family! Stop!”

My sister, He is making it clear today. He will not allow you to destroy your life, your family, or the ministry He has given you. He loves you and is right there to help you avoid destructive paths. His desire is that you continue on the right path that leads to life. His will is for you to continue to go from glory to glory and from faith to faith!

Prayer: Father God, thank you! You are my faithful redeemer. You are my faithful friend. FATHER, GET MY ATTENTION when I’m not seeing the harm in what I’m doing. When I don’t see the trouble something I’m involved in is causing, please wake me up. Wake me up, Jesus! Snap me all the way back to reality and help me see what you need me to see. Keep me on the right path that leads to life! In Jesus’ name, Amen.
