My sister, your worth and your identity are in Christ!

“Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock.” Matthew 7:24-25

I remember years ago, a friendship I thought was for life ended, and I was devastated. I went into the darkest depression I had ever experienced and almost lost my mind. Immediately, Holy Spirit went to work, helping me understand who I am in Christ. I found everywhere in Scripture where it said, “in Him,” “in whom,” “through Him,” and “through Christ,” and I listened to those Scriptures on a recording in my sleep and all throughout the day for months. Fast forward years later, another friendship ended that I thought was a lifetime, and although it shook me and hurt, my understanding of my identity in Christ helped give me a rock-solid foundation that caused me not to fall to pieces like the first time. Holy Spirit then rolled up His sleeves again and went to work, teaching me how I am complete in Christ. Every heartbreak resulted in powerful teaching and understanding I wouldn’t have received had I not grown through it.

My sister, you can decide whether you will go through it or grow through it!

In life, I’ve learned to bless people when they come and bless them when they go. There are relationships we hope will last, but the truth is every relationship won’t last a lifetime. We accomplish our mission in each other’s lives, fulfill our purpose for that set time, and learn what the friendship was designed to teach us. Then, that chapter ends, and we move into a new beginning. I’ve learned my worth and identity are not in my marriage, not in my children, not in my friendships, or anything else. My worth and my identity are in Christ, and I am complete in Him!

I hope you are hearing me, my sister. If you allow your husband, your children, your ministry, friendships, or anything else to define who you are, you will be completely devastated if those things are no longer in your life. God needs you to understand who you are in Christ. He needs you to know on a deep soul level that you are complete in Him. I encourage you to read and reread. Listen and listen again to God’s Word telling you who you are in Him. What you are in Him. How you are in Him. Where you are in Him. With or without things or people, you are still a daughter of the King, approved and accepted into His family, and deeply loved by your heavenly Father!

Prayer: Thank you, Father, for speaking to my heart. I hear you. Help me understand who I am in you and who you are in me. Plant my feet on a firm foundation. Let my soul be anchored in you no matter who comes or goes. Thank you, Father, for loving me so deeply. I receive it. Help me not only go through life, help me grow through it. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
