Operate More, Expect More

“A spiritual gift is given to each of us so we can help each other…” 1 Corinthians 12:7, Living Translation.

Years ago, after I gave birth to my youngest son, I had begun to have terrible migraine headaches. No matter what I did, the headaches just wouldn’t go away. So a close friend called me one day and asked how I was doing. I let her know about the migraines, and before we got off the phone, she asked if she could pray for me. I said yes, and after she prayed, the migraine headaches completely went away and never came back. Praise God!

My friend isn’t known for operating in God’s healing power. She’s not on anyone’s healing ministry team that travels the world, but she’s known in the kingdom of God, and I’m thankful the spiritual gift within her greatly blessed me!

You may know all about someone’s financial problems, health problems, or relationship problems, but that doesn’t mean they can’t be used mightily by God to bless you. Your sister in Christ may have a prophetic word from God that could totally revolutionize your life! Your brother in Christ could have the gift of healing and miracles! We need to expect more from each other and operate more in the spiritual gifts each of us has received by the Spirit of God!

Prayer: Father God, I thank you for your loving correction and wisdom. Help me quickly humble myself when a spirit of familiarity wants me to think people have nothing to offer me. You have given to your children spiritual gifts by your Spirit. Help me operate more in my gifting, and gladly receive from your gift in others. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

(Read 1 Corinthians 12:7-11)
