Receive God’s approval of you!

“Whatever God has promised gets stamped with the Yes of Jesus. In him, this is what we preach and pray, the great Amen, God’s Yes and our Yes together, gloriously evident. God affirms us, making us a sure thing in Christ, putting his Yes within us. By his Spirit he has stamped us with his eternal pledge—a sure beginning of what he is destined to complete” 2 Corinthians 1:20-22, MSG.

After talking with a friend and sharing with her my heart and reasoning for some key decisions I had made, I got off of the phone feeling unsettled. Holy Spirit then asked, why do you go to people to affirm you and validate your decisions? Isn’t your Father’s approval and affirmation enough? He then took me to 2 Corinthians 1:20-22, and I got it!

God has already approved of us, my sister. He has put His resounding Yes within us. Yes, sometimes He will send people our way to let us know we’re headed down the right path, and we’re making wise decisions, but if He sends no one, we must know that He has already made us a sure thing in Christ and have stamped us with His approval. We’ve been accepted into the beloved, and we do not lack in anything. Together, let’s receive and be filled with the affirming, approving, and accepting love of our Father.

It’s like a young girl who receives the validation of her father so much through the years that she doesn’t have to go anywhere to hear that she is smart and beautiful. Our Father God has filled 66 books of our Bible with constant reminders of how He feels about us. But we have to hear and receive those words. Only then can we go on with our lives, discovering and fulfilling our purpose with hearts that have been affirmed, approved, accepted, and so loved.

Prayer: Father, thank you for speaking to me. You are a wonderful and beautiful Father. I receive to the full your affirming love, your acceptance of me, and your approval of the life choices I know you are leading me to make. Help me to no longer look for others to give me what you have already abundantly provided. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
