Small foxes destroy the vine.

“Therefore I urge you, brothers, on account of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God, which is your spiritual service of worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God.” Romans 12:1-2

My sister, sometimes we wonder what is it that is hindering our growth. We wonder why we don’t see any fruit to all this God stuff we’ve been doing. It’s the small foxes that destroy the vine. It’s the small foxes that hinders us from enjoying a fruitful and abundant life. Maybe you like to enjoy a glass of wine every now and then. Maybe you like to smoke a little weed or cigarette every now and then, or maybe you like to play at the casino every now and then. Maybe you like to call up a particular somebody who can really put it on you every now and then. And it seems harmless because you don’t do it everyday. It’s not like you’re addicted, right? It’s not like you’re addicted, right? You only do it when you’re stressed, when you’re tired, lonely, or bored. I get it. But God is saying, I hope you enjoyed it because that’s the last time you are doing that. The Lord is blessing His baby girls with an opportunity to be delivered from these small foxes that’s been running around our lives tearing up stuff up. He sees what we’re choosing not to see, and He is pulling ’em up and pulling ’em out!

All the pride and reliance on self, He sees it. All the unforgiveness and holding on to stuff, He sees it. All the shade you throw and how you throw people under the bus so you can look good to your employers, He sees it. He’s coming for it all because He is determined to finish the work He started within us. Yeah, we may cry when He removes it, but joy does come in the morning. Nothing tastes sweeter than freedom in Christ. We will enjoy life as He has it. We will live a full and abundant life full of peace and joy. The closer we get to a holy God, the more we see our own unholiness, but that won’t stop us from drawing closer and closer to Him, and giving more and more of ourselves completely to Him.

Prayer: Father, thank you. I hear you. Search my heart. Search my life. See if there’s anything in me that’s not like you, and remove it. If I’m going to be drunk with anything, let me be drunk with your Holy Spirit. If I’m going to be high on anything, let me be high on life in you. If I’m going to give my body away to anyone, let me give myself away to you. Strengthen me when I feel tired, stressed, lonely or bored. Redefine what I consider as fun. Renew my mind and transform me from the inside. Help me taste and see that you truly are good! In Jesus’ name, Amen.

  5. Thank you, Lord, for this devotional!! These words freed me on another level!! I recognize when I am bored and lonely that is when the enemy creeps in, but I say no more!! I am so glad that I can see the ungodliness in others but most importantly the unholiness in myself. In the word, it says submit to God and resist the devil and he will flee!! My eyes are now opened, and I no longer want to play the games that people play in this world. I will be transformed by the renewing of my mind, and I will overcome by the words of my testimony!!

  9. I disagree with you on this one. Drinking a glass of wine on Occasion is not a sin and it is not a fox. This is an unbiblical teaching. Drunkenness is a sin, but that is not what you described. Also, cannibas absolutely has positive medical benefits and if you research the anti cannibas history you would know it is big pharma that pushed it. I don’t use pot, but we do use cbd and it has been very beneficial to helping with anxiety and pain without being on a man-made drug.
