“Where no counsel is, the people fall: but in the multitude of counsellors there is safety.” Proverbs 11:14
“Without counsel purposes are disappointed: but in the multitude of counsellors they are established.” Proverbs 15:22
“For by wise counsel thou shalt make thy war: and in multitude of counsellors there is safety.” Proverbs 24:6
For a long time I thought these scriptures meant in the multitude of “counsel” there is safety. So whenever I needed wisdom for a situation, I would call up every wise person I knew and ask them what they thought I should do. I thought I was acting on the Word of God, but I soon learned too much counsel can cause confusion. Too much counsel from many different sources can put many opinions and voices in your head to where you can’t even hear the voice of God clearly.
The Lord says in the multitude of “counselors” there is safety, not in the multitude of “counsel”. This means, we are to let God surround us with wise men and women of God that are full of the Holy Ghost, people we can call when needed, but let Him lead us to one. It’s not the amount of counsel you receive that matters. It’s about allowing yourself to be led by the Holy Ghost. So when you are between a rock and a hard place and you don’t know what to do, don’t call up everyone you know asking for wisdom. Rather, let the Holy Spirit direct you to the one believer who will listen to you and will give you sound wisdom that lines up with the Word of God and brings a spirit of peace into your mind and heart.
With the right counsel, you won’t fall. With the right counsel, your purpose won’t be disappointed. With the right counsel, dear, you can make war and go full force into God’s perfect will for your life.
Prayer: Father God, I know you are speaking to me. I receive your divine wisdom right now in the name of Jesus. Surround me Lord with wise counselors who are full of your Holy Spirit, people who know how to listen to me and listen to you. Thank you that you are not the author of confusion, but you are my God of peace. I yield to you now, and I ask you to direct me where I should go. I trust you to give me the exact wisdom for every situation and every problem because you promised you would. Thank you Lord, In Jesus’ name, Amen.
