Trust your driver.

“Then you will find favor and high regard in the sight of God and man. Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.…” Proverbs 3:4-6, Berean Study Bible.

I remember during a ministry trip to South Africa, my husband and I were invited to go on a game drive (or a “safari”). Before we left, our driver gave us specific instructions; do not put your legs or arms outside of the vehicle, do not get out of the vehicle, do not make any loud noises, no sudden movements, etc. As we came behind a beautiful family of elephants, someone did something we were told not to do, and an elephant came charging at us. I screamed for the driver to Go, go, go!! He immediately drove the jeep backwards at full speed. Our hearts racing, we then came to a stop and waited silently on the side of the road before going any further. After a few minutes, it was safe to go on. We had to trust the driver and do what he said because he had experience in a place that we did not.

God reminded me of that experience when I discovered I have issues with control. He told me, “It’s dangerous out there in the world, and you are in rough terrain like you’ve never been in before. It is important that you trust Me. I am with you and I need you to listen to Me and follow My instructions. I am your Lord, and I am your driver. If you trust Me, I will get you through this, and you will live to tell the story.”

My sister, this isn’t a word only for me. It is for you too. This is when its important to trust God and do what He says. He is our driver, Jesus is our leader, and He sees the end from the beginning. He knows where we are and where He’s taking us. We are safe in Him.

Prayer: Father, thank you for speaking to my heart. I receive your words, and I choose right now to trust you. You are good, and you see the end from the beginning. Help me to stay in your will and follow your written and spoken instructions. Help me not lean to my own understanding. I want to arrive safely to your destiny for my life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

“He who trusts in himself is a fool, but one who walks in wisdom will be safe.” Proverbs 28:26

“Commit your way to the LORD; trust in Him, and He will do it.” Psalm 37:5

I pray all will work out for my children and my good. For some reason I have peace where I will usually worry. I’m learning not to stress and/or be anxious about what I can not change.

I have no one else to trust in but the Lord. I look forward to a breakthrough for a testimony for the Lord.

  11. Thank you for this awesome reminder to trust God. Yes, you are correct to say, “He knows the beginning to the end.” Proverbs 3:5-6 is one of my guiding scriptures. I apply it to everything. It’s a scripture of humility. Pride and not knowing His nature/character will hinder you from trusting Him. He will never forsake those who’ trust is in Him.

  12. LORD, I Am Trusting You to Lead and Guide me safely through this tough terrain that I find myself so entangled in.
