“Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding” Proverbs 4:7, NKJV.
“Discretion will preserve you; understanding will keep you” Proverbs 2:11, NKJV.
I’ve done some stupid things in my life. I’ve lied. I’ve cheated. I’ve obsessed over people who cared nothing for me. I’ve made foolish financial decisions. One time, to celebrate a one year anniversary, I took all of our savings and paid for my husband and I to stay at a resort that cost us 1,000 US dollars per night. We were so broke while at the resort that we didn’t have enough money to eat or enjoy ourselves. I’ve done so many foolish things that I can’t count them all.
I tell you, it is a miracle when God takes someone foolish like I was and makes us wise!
Whenever we struggle in any area of life, it shows that we lack understanding. The Bible says, God’s Word makes wise the simple. He gives us rich understanding and wisdom so we can live the life He designed us to live.
If you’ve been making one foolish decision after another, and you feel hopeless, this is when you say to yourself, “Girl, you need understanding!” That understanding comes from the Lord, my sister, not from a psychic, or an astrologer, or any medium out there. These worldly methods of trying to get understanding about you and your life will only open the door for demons to bring a storm of confusion. Go to the Lord that made you and knows you! Go to the only One that gives understanding and who never turns you away.
Every time you open your Bible, imagine you’re sitting at a feast of understanding and God is ready to abundantly satisfy you.
I challenge you today: Open your Bible to Psalms 19:7 and say this out loud with me: Father, I thank you for Your Word. Your word is able to make me wise. Your Word is able to convert my soul and transform my life. Your word enlightens my darkness and helps me to see things right. You said understanding will keep me, and Lord I want to be kept. I want to be wise. I pray that you give me wisdom, knowledge and understanding. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
