You are already fit for His use.

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised.” Luke 4:18

At the age of 12 I remember asking my mother, “Will I have to go through a lot to be anointed?” To which she responded, “No, you don’t”. We had gone to a church revival where a powerful woman preacher shared her testimony of being delivered from all sorts of things and how the Lord brought her through. I wanted to be powerful for the Lord like her, but I didn’t want to go through what she went through. As I grew in the Lord and became older and wiser, I realized, no, you don’t have to go through anything traumatic to be anointed by God. It is the power of Jesus Christ that sets the captives free. It is the power of Jesus Christ at work in reaching the lost. The things we go through causes us to have compassion, causes us to be understanding of others, and builds our confidence in Christ’s power within us.

Don’t be deceived. If your life has been smooth thus far, let God continue to bless you with a smooth life. You don’t have to go and live foolishly just to be powerful in the Lord. You can learn from the mistakes of others. Sit down and listen to their stories and God can develop within you a level of compassion. Understand the same anointing that rested upon Jesus, rests mightily upon you. Through the power of Jesus, you are already fit for His use.

Prayer: Father God, I bless you and thank you for speaking directly to my heart. Thank You for your grace and mercy. Thank you for empowering me to be an effective witness for you. I receive your grace and the help of your Holy Spirit. Enlarge my heart and give me compassion for the lost and hurting. Help me to learn from those around me. Help me to bring glory to your name. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
