I remember years ago a man walked up to me in a store saying, “You changed my life.” I didn’t remember him right away, but he remembered me. I looked at him and said, “Has anyone ever told you that you look like that guy from “Save the Last Dance”? He smiled and said, “You don’t remember me do you?” Immediately, I recognized him. I met him in the darkest place of my life. He was the guard in front of my hospital room, assigned to watch and protect me from myself. God used me to impact his life and encourage him even though I needed all of the encouragement I could get. But here he stood in front of me at a home improvement store saying how I changed his life. I was speechless. With tears in my eyes, I looked up to heaven and thanked God.
My sister, even in your darkest places, when you feel you have nothing to say to anyone, grace speaks for you. When you feel you have nothing to give, grace presents to others a handful. When you feel your light isn’t shining at all, God’s light is shining brightly. When Jesus said you are the light of the world, He meant it, my sister. Whether you are penniless, sick, in trouble, down and out, or at your lowest point, you are impacting someone with the light of Jesus. No matter the place you are in, you are still God’s daughter and you are still a city set on a hill. Even in dark places, you can’t be hidden. You shine brightly!
Prayer: Father, thank you for loving me. Thank you for your goodness and mercy. I love you more than anything. Thank you that your light faithfully shines through me no matter where I am. Thank you. Only a loving God can make that possible. Keep shining in me. Be glorified in this vessel of clay. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
