Abide in Me

“Abide in Me, and I in you…” John 15:4

You would think that when God tells us to abide and remain in Him, this would be an easy thing to do, but it actually can prove quite challenging. Everything tries to pull us up and out of our seat. Things come from all directions to get us out of faith, out of love, out of the Spirit, and out of our place of rest in Him. The husband leaves you and the kids, and the Lord says, abide in Me. You lose your job without severance pay, and the Lord says, abide in Me. Your child gets arrested, and the Lord tells you to abide and remain in Him. The thing is, you’re not alone. The Lord is with you. And you’re not sitting idle, fiddling your thumbs. You are seated in Christ, seated with Him, and from that place, you pray, intercede, and petition the Lord. In that place of abiding, He answers you. Your warfare is to resist the pull to move from that place of remaining and resting in Him.

My sister, nothing can pluck you out of God’s hands. Nothing and no one. You would have to decide to move. Receive every bit of Holy Spirit’s help to remain in Christ. Receive all of His strength and might to remain in your trust in Him when everything is trying to pull you out and away. Stay in faith. Stay in love. Stay in the Spirit. Stay in peace. Stay the course. You can do all things through who strengthens you, including abiding in Him.

Prayer: Father, I hear you speaking to me, and I receive your instructions to stay and remain in you. I receive your help to not move out of my seat. Help me stay in the Spirit, in your love, in your peace, in your will, on your course for my life. Be glorified in me. In the name of Jesus, Amen.

  1. Praise God, Yes! But God is the one who is and the one who reigns on High. Thank you Father as you have kept me after losing my job for 12 years, my children who gave their hearts to you, and we’re baptized and no longer serving you, yet, you still have me in the palm of your hands. Thank you Jesus that even my business was taken from me but in all that you cleared my name. Thank you Lord for 8 years and ten months of trying to complete my high school diploma but you saw fit to finally release the diploma through a temporary pathway, and right after you blessed me in a Christian college University to find out that the school would close, but you would bless me to graduate with my associates three years later. Yet I will Praise you! As your ways are not our ways and your thoughts are greater!! I will yet still, β€œAbide.”

  11. I feel like I am in a perpetual cycle of waiting, testing and trials!
I am wrestling between this anthropological duality within me
    Spirit vs flesh
    Faith vs facts
    Ideal vs reality
    Revelation vs manifestation
    Pruning vs punishment
I keep HEARING, πŸ—£οΈWHEN will the promises manifest…but I have to silence my flesh yield onto the spirit and BE STILL AND KNOW HE IS GOD!!!

  14. Thank you Sister Kesha for this timely message being posted NOW even though you wrote it in September!
This post reminded me that the ONLY WAY to secure the Lord’s peace is to remain abiding in Him.
Kesha, your devotionals have literally changed my life by strengthening my faith these past 4 years as Hubby and his dementia symptoms and I journey down the road of life.
You, Kesha, have truly helped me stay the course!
