Cover your family in prayer, my sister.

“But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.” Matthew 6:6

Years ago, while praying with my husband, God led me to cover him with a blanket and pray that he would abide in God’s dwelling place forever, stay hidden in Christ and that he would receive everything he needed from his relationship with God. My husband then stood up and covered the both of us and prayed for the Lord to be our safety and our dwelling place. Then we took the same blanket and lightly covered our children as they slept. We prayed for God to cover them and keep them hidden in Him all the days of their lives. That blanket was our family prayer blanket at the time, used to symbolize God’s promise to cover our family as we continued to abide in Him.

Cover your family in prayer, my sister. Don’t take for granted that you belong to God. Don’t take for granted that you are redeemed. The devil is working overtime to try to derail God’s people and throw your family off course, but you can stop him in his tracks by covering your family in prayer. Cover your husband. Cover your children. Cover your marriage. You are in this world, but you are not of it. There is a plan and purpose God has for your family unit, and if you stay aligned with God’s will, He will make your family unstoppable. You will reach God’s destination. You are the builder in your home. The enemy can’t get past a woman that is set on keeping her family under God’s protection and power. No weapon formed against you, your children or your marriage will prosper when you are covered.

Prayer: Father God, thank You for speaking directly to my heart. I obey Your instruction now and I cover my family in prayer. I pray that my family is kept by Your grace and power. Cover my husband, God. Cover my marriage. Cover my children. Keep them safe from the attacks of the enemy. Remove anything in my home that’s not like You and establish everything that is of You. Help us fulfill Your purpose and plan for our family. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
