God wants to spend time with you.

“Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock” Matthew 7:24, ESV.

Years ago, God led me to pray and confess key scriptures over my children daily. I didn’t know why it was on me so heavy to pray over them more than ever, but I was so glad I obeyed the Lord because months later, our four-month-old son was admitted into intensive care for a failure to thrive, and digestive and thyroid issues. The situation didn’t look good at all, and as I followed the ambulance to the children’s hospital, I prayed, “Lord, not my baby! The devil can’t have my baby! Your Word says that the children you have given me are for signs and wonders (see Isaiah 8:18). You said in your Word that you would pour out your Spirit upon my seed and your blessing upon my offspring (see Isaiah 44:3). You said my seed would be mighty in the earth (see Psalm 112:2). Every scripture that I had been confessing over the past months was coming up into my heart like ammunition into a gun, and I was shooting them out with tears streaming down my face. God’s healing power touched my son’s body, and he was completely healed! Praise God!

My sister, there is a reason your Father wants to spend time with you in prayer and His word. There is an enemy whose primary goal is to steal, kill, and destroy you and all that pertains to you (see John 10:10). It is in prayer that the Lord downloads to your spirit what to pray for and what scriptures to confess so that you will be prepared. It is very difficult to build a house in the midst of a storm. Build early. Seek Him early.

Prayer: Father, I draw close to you now and ask that you show me what you want me to do. Reveal to me what you want me to focus my prayers on. Direct me to the scriptures you want me to confess. Prepare me for the storms that are sure to come. Show me how to build my prayer life and relationship with your word, not in a spirit of fear but in faith and confidence in you. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
