“Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable— if anything is excellent or praiseworthy— think on these things” Philippians 4:8, Berean Study Bible.
Whenever I would read “Be anxious for nothing,” I would say in my heart, “Too late, Lord, I’m already anxious. So, what now?” (see Philippians 4:6). Instead of allowing that scripture to give me life and encourage me, I looked at negatively and felt saddened because I felt I didn’t measure up. One thing I’ve learned is God never issues a command and leave us alone to figure out how to actually walk that out and receive the peace that following His commands can bring.
With every command our Father gives, He provides a flood of grace, strength and power to carry it out. So, instead of hearing “Be anxious for nothing” and allowing it to make us feel ashamed due to all of the fear and anxiety we experience, let’s allow that scripture to bless us in knowing God’s grace is with us to help us not be anxious.
I have watched God settle me when I’m troubled, and He will do the same for you. He tells us in Philippians 4:8, “…whatever is true…think on these things.” I want to highlight, “whatever is true”. My sister, the truth of God’s word will settle you when fear and anxiety is attacking your mind. God will remind you of His love and His truth and it will calm you supernaturally!
Prayer: Father God, thank you for helping me be anxious for nothing. I welcome your truth in my heart, and I invite your Holy Spirit to come in and rest, rule and abide in me. Thank you that the truth of who you are to me settles my emotions and calms me. Help me rest in your truth today. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
(Read Philippians 4:6-8)

But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you. To him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.
