“He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” Peter answered and said to Him, “You are the Christ.” Mark 8:29
My sister, do you know that how you see Jesus determines what you believe, and what you receive from the Lord? If you see the Lord as your healer, you will have no problem believing Him to heal you. If you see Jesus as your Chief Shepherd, you will trust Him to guide you and provide your every need.
The people of Nazareth, Jesus’ hometown, saw Jesus in the natural. They said of Him, “Is this not the carpenter’s son? Is not His mother called Mary? And His brothers James, Joses, Simon, and Judas? And His sisters, are they not all with us?” They did not see Him as the Son of God, and as a result, He could not do many mighty works there.
To many people, Jesus of Nazareth is nothing more than a good man who led an exemplary life, and if all of us could live our lives like Him, the world would be a better place. They don’t see Jesus as the bread of life who came from heaven to give life to the world. They don’t see Him as the one who came to provide living water so they would never thirst again. Because of this, they don’t receive from Him what they need.
Jesus did not come just to set a good example for man to follow. He came to be our Redeemer, Righteousness, and Shepherd, so we will not lack anything.
Jesus asked His disciples once, “Who do you say that I am?” How you answer this question depends on how you see Jesus, and how you see Him will determine how and what you receive from Him. My sister, let’s see the Lord as everything He says He is and believe Him! He will do many mighty works in our lives!
Prayer: Lord, I come to you today and confess that I have at times not trusted or truly relied on you to be more than enough in my life. I choose today to trust you to be what you say you are to me.
You are my El Roi, my all seeing God.
You are my Jehovah-Rapha, my Healer.
You are my Jehovah-Jireh, my Provider.
You are my Jehovah-Tsidkenu, my Righteousness.
And you are my Jehovah-Shalom, the one that gives me peace to the uttermost.
