“Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children” Ephesians 5:1, ESV.
We cannot call ourselves followers of God if we refuse to imitate Him by loving who He loves, hating what He hates, honoring who He honors, and blessing who He has blessed. Siding with God is the test that reveals the character of our hearts and determines the quality of our lives.
When you say to yourself, God loves them, but I will not. God favors them, but I will not. God is honoring them, but I will not. This is not imitating Him. This is resisting Him and no one that resists Him truly loves Him.
May we learn to side with God, and imitate Him as children do.
Prayer: My Father God. I can’t call myself your child if I am not imitating you as children do. Remove all stubbornness of heart from me. Remove anything in me that’s resisting you. Help me to love who you love, hate what you hate, honor who you honor, and bless who you have blessed. Help me to side with you, and come into perfect alignment with you. When I do this you promise to show yourself strong in me. I am your child, and I choose to imitate you. In the name of Jesus, Amen.
