Keep being the blessing God has commanded you to be.

“Then the word of the LORD came to Elijah: “Get up and go to Zarephath of Sidon, and stay there. Behold, I have commanded a widow there to provide for you.” 1 Kings 17:8-9, Berean Standard Bible

God had commanded the widow of Zarephath to provide food and water for the prophet Elijah. Her obedience to God activated supernatural provisions for her and her son.

On a recent trip to New York, a close friend I have known for years opened her home to me and my family for a night. While there, she prepared breakfast, organized where we could sleep, and made sure we arrived at the airport on time to head home to Georgia. I told her that for your kindness towards my husband and me, you will reap for the rest of your life. She called me a few weeks later with great news of a miracle she had received from the Lord. I cried with her, and we thanked God. Her jar of oil hasn’t run dry, and her bin of flour still hasn’t run out.

My sister, keep being the blessing God has commanded you to be. There is miracle-working power attached to your obedience. I can imagine the widow’s neighbors standing around, waiting for her bin of flour to run out and the oil in her jar to run dry, but the prophet had spoken and said that it would not run out, and it didn’t. As surely as the Lord lives, people may be spectating, waiting for you to run out of anointing, run out of favor, run out of strength, run out of grace, run out of ideas, run out of patience, and run out of money. But you won’t run out. As a matter of fact, God is about to increase you all the more. You’re about to walk in an overflow of what everyone thought you would run out of!

  1. Hallelujah! Amen!
The Lord says it is better to give than receive (Acts 20:35). I will keep being a blessing in Jesus name.

    1. To God be the glory. I believe in an anointing like Elijah’s, and I have faith that just as the widow found favour with God and Elijah, I will also be rewarded in due season. I trust that God will never let me run dry in whatever He does to bring joy into my life at the right time. I am waiting with gratitude and looking up to You, BABA!
