Learning to Be Content

“Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you” Hebrews 13:5, NKJV

Today, we don’t hear a lot about the sin of covetousness, but it’s rampant among Christians. Anything we feel would make us happier, we want it, and feel discontent until we have it. A mark of a mature believer, however, is when we have learned how to be content. The apostle Paul said, “I have learned in whatsoever state I’m in to be content” (see Philippians 4:11). How could he have learned contentment considering everything he went through? The Holy Spirit taught him, just as He is teaching God’s people today.

My sister, it makes no sense at all to be grumpy while you wait on your Boaz, grumpy while you wait to have children, grumpy while you wait for those children to leave the house, grumpy until you get a vacation, grumpy while you wait to get a more spacious house. God doesn’t respond to our grumpiness. He responds to our faith, and a key indicator that we are in faith is our contentment in Him.

The enemy will always tell us that happiness is somewhere other than where we are right now. But in Jesus name, we’re going to choose to be happy and satisfied with what we have, as we wait on God. We’re going to enjoy where we are while we get to where we’re going. Understanding contentment doesn’t mean complacency. It means no longer allowing our circumstances to have control over our happiness.

Prayer: Father God, I thank you for preaching to me today by your Holy Ghost. Help me Lord to learn how to be content with what you’ve given me. Teach me by your Holy Ghost to be happy with myself and not be covetous. Forgive me Lord of all sin in my heart. Set me free by your power to live a content life through Jesus. Amen.

  3. 🔥🔥🔥Amen!!! Learning to be content in whatever state I am in, being SATISFIED with our Saviour. In Him is “FULLNESS OF JOY!” Having a grateful and thankful heart knowing that what He has for you is for you. If we being evil will give our children gifts, How much more will our Heavenly Father give to His children? As we trust Him:
    *Isaiah 58:11 –
And the LORD shall guide thee continually, and satisfy thy soul in drought, and make fat thy bones: and thou shalt be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters fail not.
    Because He LOVES Us!!!✝️✝️✝️❤️❤️❤️🛐🛐🛐

  4. Lord I thank you, before I knew what covetousness was I wanted and desired what others had and was angry because it didn’t happen (as a child) I’ve learned a valuable lesson I wanted a husband and I couldn’t wait and the one I got wasn’t for me i wanted so much to be out of that marriage and asked God to remove him and He did he was killed but out of that marriage I was blessed with a beautiful daughter, through the abuse, his addiction I had to learn how to be content in all my circumstances, no matter was it is I was searching for God has the plan for me and I’ll wait and be content on the outcome
Praise You Lord in my wait You know what’s best for me.
    AMEN!!!
