My sister, come back home.

“But I have this [one charge to make] against you: that you have left (abandoned) the love that you had at first [you have deserted Me, your first love]” Revelation 2:4, Amplified.

“…In returning and rest shall ye be saved; in quietness and in confidence shall be your strength…” Isaiah 30:15

A daughter chooses to leave home. On her way out the door, her father says something that stays with her. He says, “I love you, and this is your home. No matter where you go, and no matter what you do, know that you are loved, and you can always return home.” She hears his words but doesn’t allow them to land and then heads out the door. Knowing he can’t force her to stay, he prays for her night and day until one morning, he hears a knock at the door. It is his daughter he’s been praying for.

To return is to come to the same state. It is to revisit. When it comes to our heavenly Father, we don’t have to pack our bags and head to another place to leave Him. We abandon Him in our hearts when we choose our way instead of His way. And after our way has left us broken and shattered, we crave home.

My sister, our heavenly Father loves us, and He is our home. He is our rest, and He is our safety. No matter where you find yourself in life, no matter what you do, or where you go, you are so loved, and you can return home. The Psalmist David said, if I ascend up into heaven, God is there with him, and if he makes his bed in the place of the dead, even there the Lord is with him. The enemy’s ultimate goal is to destroy you, but he doesn’t know your heavenly Father has been fighting for you since the day you were born. He has spoken over your life and has redeemed you from destruction. You are His.

You are still alive because of your Father’s rich mercy and His covenant with you. Jesus, Himself has been interceding for you. It’s time to return home to your First Love. He will wrap His arms around you, restore you, and love you as though you never left His side.

Prayer: Father, forgive me for thinking my way is better than yours. I run to you. Father, you are my home and my safety. Thank you for your grace and mercy. Thank you for never giving up on me. Your unfailing love and kindness are more than I can comprehend. I pray that you keep me close to your side and be greatly glorified in my life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

“Where could I go from Your Spirit? Or where could I flee from Your presence? If I ascend up into heaven, You are there; if I make my bed in Sheol (the place of the dead), behold, You are there. If I take the wings of the morning or dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, even there shall Your hand lead me, and Your right hand shall hold me. If I say, Surely the darkness shall cover me and the night shall be [the only] light about me, even the darkness hides nothing from You, but the night shines as the day; the darkness and the light are both alike to You. For You did form my inward parts; You did knit me together in my mother’s womb. I will confess and praise You for You are fearful and wonderful and for the awful wonder of my birth! Wonderful are Your works, and that my inner self knows right well.” Psalms 139:7-14
