So what did you do?

“For the Son of man is come to save that which was lost.” Matthew 18:11

One day, a man went to a hospital to be examined. While sitting with a doctor, the doctor told him he had cancer. Upon hearing the news, he began to cry. Then the doctor said you could receive treatment and extend your life, or you could refuse and die within a year. Immediately, the man went outside and called his wife. After a brief pause, his wife asked, so what did you do? He said I chose to receive treatment so I could live.

Three days later, that same man walked into a church. After talking with a pastor, the pastor told him, your soul is lost and dying. You can receive Jesus and live forever or refuse and spend eternity in hell, separated from God. Immediately, the man stormed out of the church and called his wife. He said you wouldn’t believe what that preacher told me. After telling her what the preacher said, she asked, so what did you do? He said I cussed him out and told him where he could put his Bible and his gospel.

After a few minutes of silence, his wife said, so when the doctor gave you the bad report, you cried and received treatment so you could live, but when the preacher spoke to you about your soul, you insulted him. Why? The man told his wife, I don’t have to believe anything that preacher says! He doesn’t know me! Then, pausing for a moment, she asked, and the doctor does?

God didn’t send Jesus into the world to condemn the world but that the world, through Him, might be saved (see John 3:17).
