“For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise.” Hebrews 10:36

One day I went to sleep worried about many things. As soon as I opened my eyes the next morning, I heard the Lord say, “You have need of patience, that, after you have done my will, you might receive the promise!” When I got out of my bed, all I could say was “Yes Lord, I hear you.”

God knows that you are believing Him for many things: to heal, to save, to provide, to deliver, and your list goes on. You want God to be God in your life and to respond. But the problem is, you go to bed worrying and you wake up worrying. Maybe you haven’t slept for a full night in years because you are thinking constantly about whether God is going to answer your prayers and when. But I say to you the same word God spoke to me early that morning, You have need of patience, that, after you have done the will of God, you might receive the promise!

Trust that God is who He say He is and He will do what He said He will do. Even if it takes many years, He will do what He’s promised you. Don’t let go of your faith just because you don’t see anything yet. God has heard you and in His perfect timing He will come through for you. Be patient while He works. No one rushes a surgeon to perform heart surgery. No one yells through the door for a brain surgeon to hurry up in working on their relative’s brain. No, we want doctors to take their time because we want it done right. Let God take as long as He wants to take. Honor His timing and His command to be patient. He is setting you up to see His goodness like you’ve never seen before. When He’s done, it’s going to be just like you pictured it.

Prayer: Father God, thank you Lord for speaking directly to my heart and to my situation. Please forgive me for worrying and stressing out. I need help trusting in you and waiting patiently for you. Help me understand even more how much you love me and care about me. Help me to believe when I don’t see anything with my natural eyes. I’ve done all I know to do. Help me to keep standing. Help me to rest in you. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

  5. Hello, I am seeking prayer for my husband. He contracted a skin condition during the war in Iraq. While in Kuwait, he started itching and had red bumps on his skin. Those red bumps turned in to sores all over his body. When returning to the United States, he visited the Mayo Clinic. They were unable to give him any answers or a cure. He goes through everyday in pain and discomfort. He uses steroid creme on his body which is slowly thinning his skin, he’s only 31. We need a miracle. Please join us in praying for healing. Thank you. God is good all the time, and we are praying for His will to be done.

    1. I just prayed for your husband and asked the Lord to cover him with his precious blood from his head to his toes. Be healed in the precious name of our Lord and saviour.

  6. I have been anxious all night about wanting to do something that I’m sure God has moved me away from. I was justifying why it would be okay and asking God …is this something you still don’t want me to do or have I misread everything? Is it going to be hours, weeks, days or years that I have to stay this strong? I keep running to the scriptures to remain strong and opportunity keeps standing in front of me, causing me to second guess what I have heard. I sat down this morning and said ok God…I’m coming to You for answers…I know I can no longer trust myself to make right decisions for my life….please be clear so I know exactly what to do today…I’ll worry about later or tomorrow when they get here…and I opened this devotion for today….could not be any more clear…β€œFor ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise.” Hebrews 10:36

  7. I truly enjoy your daily devotionals and everyday I forward them to others until they start doing it on their own. I also inform others they need to read the Bible for God’s words. Sometimes we can say something that’s not entirely correct and unintentionally mislead. I word “might” that was in Hebrews 10:36, is not correct. NKIV Hebrews states “For you have need of endurance, so that after after you have done the will of God you may receive the promise”. I know you may think this is silly, but when I see the word “might” it tells me it’s not a sure thing. But “you may” tell me I am going to receive. It’s a play on words, but can change the way that someone may think. Not everyone will read the scriptures, and I truly believe that this is what you all hope and pray for, (as I do) so it’s very important what we say and read. Please understand that I’m not criticizing. I love your devotionals very much, it starts my day and guides me in my reading. Thank you for all you do, and hearing my comment.God bless.

  12. Our Heavenly Father we thank You for Who You are. We ask You to give us the faith to be able to know You will do what You promised in Your time. Help us Holy Spirit to wait to have patience, one of the fruits of the Spirit for whatever we have asked, and if it is not in Your will, to accept it knowing You have the best in mind for us. Thank You for being faithful all the time, in Jesus name. Amen

  13. Lord by you power may I stay rooted and grounded that I may not fulfill the lust of the flesh.
