When You Pray for Your Friends

“And the LORD turned the captivity of Job, when he prayed for his friends: also the LORD gave Job twice as much as he had before” Job 42:10.

Please read that Scripture again, but this time read it slowly.

Job’s friends didn’t respond properly to his situation. They didn’t respond to him with love or grace. He told them, “you are miserable comforters, all of you” (see Job 16:2). It was when Job prayed for his friends that the Lord turned his situation around and gave him twice as much as he had before.

People who are supposed to be your friends may not be responding to you with love, sensitivity, and grace. They may be showing themselves to be miserable comforters right now, but my sister, the Lord will turn things around for you when you pray for her, pray for him, and pray for them. Pray for every friend in your life, both old and new. For where God is taking you, you can’t afford to have any bitterness or resentment in your heart toward anyone.

Your divine breakthrough is connected to your heartfelt prayers for those who hurt you and misjudged you. As you pray from your heart for them, the Lord will turn your captivity as He did with Job. He will bless you with twice as much as you had before. He will reward you and will be greatly glorified in your life!

Prayer: Yes, Lord. I hear you. With everything in me, Lord, I ask that you bless my friends, old and new. I ask that you forgive them. They don’t know how deeply their actions affected me. Bless them with your love, your grace, and your mercy. Give them a heart to know you more. Protect them, Lord, and surround their families with your love. Help them to fulfill your divine purpose and plan for their lives. Heal them, Lord, the same way you’re healing me. Love on them the same way you are loving on me. Touch them the same way you’re supernaturally touching me. Be glorified in their lives in a great way, and use me to bless them. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Good job, my sister. I know that was tough, but good job. The Lord is pleased.

  5. I truly appreciate yesterday’s devotional, I prayed it a few times as the Lord reminded me of friends I needed to forgive. But this morning I have been reminded of friends whom I need to seek forgiveness from. Friends I have offended. Please help me pray for that, it is just as grievous. Thank you!

  6. Praying is a part of our every day life. When praying faith goes hand and hand together. My prayer is family, friends, my neighbors who lives miles away/on another continent, my enemies and everyone in the world.

  7. Thank you so much for this. I been praying for somebody (who I don’t know personally) & I was wondering if praying for other people is bad if you should be praying for self. Also selfishly I was hoping that praying for others would help me and yes that is a very selfishly thought I admit it lol. So thank u for answering something I was wondering about
