Truth and humility.

“Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed….” James 5:16, New Living Translation.

“And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” John 8:32

There are women all over the world who love God with all their heart, but they struggle with sin and strongholds of the mind-myself included. No matter how hard we try to break free, we can’t deliver ourselves. It takes the power of God. I find that His power doesn’t come in the form of lightning bolts and loud crashing waves or thunder. The power that heals us and sets us free from any bondage or captivity comes in the form of acknowledgment of the truth and humility.

My sister, yes, truth and humility. There is powerful healing and freedom that takes place when we are completely honest, open, and truthful with ourselves and with others. I can’t count how many times I’ve made myself feel better by pointing out someone else’s flaws. I’ve had to turn those bright investigation lights on myself, examine my own heart, and confess anything I’ve done and who I allowed myself to become. My mother used to say tell the truth and shame the devil. This is wisdom, and this is how healing and true deliverance can take place.

Prayer: Father, forgive me. Help me. There’s no healing or freedom apart from you. Show me the root causes of my sin and my fears. I humble myself right now under your mighty hand and receive your mercy, your grace, and your strength to break free. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
