My sister, our Lord is on His way.

“And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.” Revelation 22:12

When you know, that you know, Jesus is about to come back at any second, you don’t have time for holding on to anything.

I was raised by a single mother for the first 12 years of my life. Whenever my Mom would get off work, she would call and say I’m on my way, and I knew what that meant. It meant the house better be clean by the time she came home. Because I was looking for her return, I helped clean up. Getting things in order with haste. The house had to look clean and smell clean. I knew if it wasn’t clean, I was getting in trouble. My sister, our Lord is on His way. How much more should we let Him help us get rid of everything that is not like Him in our lives and in our hearts.

God has had me in this place of desiring a pure heart. As Holy Spirit reveals to me people I have wronged, I’ve been reaching out to them and asking for their forgiveness. Whether they respond or not is not on me. It’s the heartfelt apology that matters most to the Lord.

A few weeks ago, I reached out to an old friend. When we were in grade school, I pushed him in a pool while he was fully dressed. He was a little on the thick side, and when his body was wet with clothes, everyone laughed at him, including me. And while on a getaway with my husband, Holy Spirit brought that back to my remembrance and I cried, seeing how I must’ve made him feel. I immediately picked up my phone and messaged him and told him I’m sorry for doing that to you.

That’s the hour we’re living in, my sister. Asking forgiveness and forgiving sins from our past and sins in our present. Holy Spirit is revealing to us our unrepentant wrong, and He wants us to make it right. He wants us to make amends and be at peace with Him, be at peace with ourselves, and be at peace with those around us because our Lord Jesus is on His way.

Prayer: Lord, help me stay ready for your return. Get rid of everything in me that’s not like you. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

(Read Matthew 6:15; Matthew 24:42-44)
